Accounting and Finance Director

About the role

This senior leadership position reports to a European finance executive and is responsible for the end‑to‑end accounting and transactional finance agenda across the UK. The role sits on the UK senior leadership team and influences broader business and transformation initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Full accountability for statutory accounting, financial control, tax, audit and compliance across multiple UK & Ireland legal entities.
• Lead a finance organisation of approximately 50 professionals, including senior managers in Accounting & Control, AP/AR, Record‑to‑Report, Credit & Revenue, and Tax.
• Own working capital performance and cash generation, driving improvements in AR, AP and related processes.
• Oversee offshore/outsourced finance partners, ensuring service quality, efficiency and cost optimisation.
• Ensure consistent application of group accounting policies, internal controls and governance within a European framework.
• Drive finance integration, system and process improvements, standardisation and digitalisation initiatives.
• Act as senior finance partner to regional and business finance teams, delivering accurate, transparent and timely financial information.
• Manage relationships with external stakeholders such as auditors, banks, tax authorities and advisors.

Required profile

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Significant senior‑level experience leading large accounting and finance teams in complex, matrixed organisations.
• Deep technical knowledge of financial accounting, statutory reporting, tax and audit.
• Proven ability to build high‑performing teams and develop senior talent.
• Experience driving process improvement and change within international groups.
