Architect / Technical Designer (Part 2/3) – London

About the role

Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM) is seeking experienced Architects or Technical Designers (Part 2 or Part 3 qualified) to join its London studio. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to develop innovative, large‑scale projects from concept through construction documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Shape design concepts from ideation to detailed development.
• Lead cross‑disciplinary reviews, turning technical or site constraints into design opportunities.
• Produce high‑quality, compliant construction details coordinated with consultants.
• Mentor junior team members and contribute to a collaborative studio culture.
• Adapt quickly to shifting deadlines, scales, and emerging digital workflows.

Required profile

• Minimum 6 years post‑qualification experience on design‑driven projects.
• Professional degree in Architecture (B.Arch, M.Arch or equivalent) with a strong portfolio.
• Experience across all project phases, preferably on large‑scale, sustainable developments.
• Familiarity with UK (RIBA) and international building regulations and work stages.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Revit.
• Proficiency in Rhino.
• Competence with Adobe Creative Suite.
• Working knowledge of Enscape and AI‑assisted design tools.
