Associate – Civils & Highways Engineer

About the role

Robert Bird Group is seeking an Associate to lead technical, commercial and people aspects of highways and infrastructure projects in the UK. The role combines engineering expertise with client relationship development to support the growth of the firm’s highways practice.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality civil and highway engineering solutions across multiple projects.
• Manage project performance, budgets and schedules while ensuring compliance with client requirements.
• Motivate and lead multidisciplinary project teams, providing supervision, mentoring and career development.
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships to secure new work and support work‑winning activities.
• Contribute to the strategic development of the UK highways practice.

Required profile

• Proven experience in civil and highway engineering, preferably within a consultancy environment.
• Demonstrated ability to lead project teams and manage stakeholder expectations.
• Strong commercial awareness and experience in business development.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
