Consultant – Older People and Stroke Service

About the role

The NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is recruiting a Consultant in Geriatric Medicine with a specialist interest in frailty and stroke. The role is split between Royal Alexandra Hospital and Inverclyde Royal Hospital, providing consultant‑led stroke care and comprehensive geriatric assessment across both sites.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver consultant‑led stroke medicine, including participation in the HASU rota at Royal Alexandra Hospital.
• Support acute stroke admissions and outpatient services at Inverclyde Royal Hospital.
• Provide comprehensive geriatric assessment within the frailty team on an acute assessment ward.
• Lead a multidisciplinary team to ensure high‑quality, patient‑centred care.
• Contribute to service development, teaching, and quality improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Full GMC registration and eligibility to work in the UK.
• Extensive clinical experience in geriatric medicine and stroke care.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work across two hospital sites.
• Commitment to multidisciplinary teamwork and patient safety.
