Contracts Manager – Procurement & Commercial

About the role

SSE is seeking a Contracts Manager to join its Procurement and Commercial team supporting the ASTI Offshore Capital Delivery programme and HVDC Cables projects. Based in one of our Scottish offices, you will split your week between office and site work, providing pre‑ and post‑contract support for large transmission projects.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the P&C Manager and Senior Contract Manager in negotiating contract terms and conditions for high‑value projects.
• Ensure contract prices are substantiated and deliver value for money.
• Engage and manage stakeholders, influence decisions, and resolve disputes.
• Conduct cost and forecast management, including regular cost reporting and adherence to change‑management procedures.
• Oversee payment, expenditure, and cost estimating activities.
• Provide post‑contract commercial management, negotiate compensation events, and apply the Commercial Manual principles.

Required profile

• Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or an equivalent discipline.
• Working towards or holding professional membership with RICS, CICES, or a similar body.
• Experience in estimating, sourcing management, cost & budget management, and contract administration.
• Proven ability to draft and interpret commercial contracts, with knowledge of standard form construction contracts.
• Experience with NEC contracts is advantageous.
