Cost Engineer - Project Controls

About the role

Amentum Technology is looking for a Cost Engineer to strengthen its established capability and support the continued growth of its business. The role supports Project Managers in delivering projects on time and within budget, applying Amentum's project controls processes and best-practice techniques. The successful candidate must be in the office in Birchwood two days per week.

Key responsibilities

• Apply project controls processes and systems, including project set-up, close-out and reconciliations
• Ensure accurate cost allocation, cost forecasting and financial analysis, and monitor revenue and gross margin
• Make sure corporate systems accurately reflect project status and monitor aged debt and support recovery
• Prepare client-specific monthly reports, internal reporting for Operational Project Reviews and contribute to or attend monthly project meetings
• Support bids and proposals
• Support Earned Value Analysis, risk and opportunity management, programme and resource monitoring, change control and early warning notices, and maintain quality documentation
• Monitor key performance indicators

Required profile

• Positive, proactive attitude with the confidence to take ownership and solve problems
• Experience in a similar project controls, cost engineering or financial role
• Strong mathematical background and high numerical accuracy
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

Required skills

• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including formulas, lookups, pivot tables and data validation
• Experience with project controls tools and software
• Confident communication with project teams and clients
