About the role
The Serious Fraud Office is seeking a Deputy Head of Communication to lead its external communications function. This senior position will shape strategy, digital output and media relations for a high‑profile, legally sensitive organisation.
Key responsibilities
- Lead day‑to‑day delivery across Strategic Planning, Digital and Media areas.
- Support learning, innovation and performance as one of three senior communication leaders.
- Oversee planning and horizon scanning to maximise opportunities and mitigate reputational risk.
- Provide expert, timely communication advice to senior leaders on high‑profile matters.
- Maintain and develop positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Oversee the Public Information service, handling Freedom of Information requests and similar legislation.
Required profile
- Ambitious senior communications professional with a track record of impact and high performance.
- Proactive, collaborative self‑starter comfortable working in a fast‑moving environment.
- Experience delivering strategic communication in public‑sector or legally sensitive contexts.
- Strong advisory skills for senior leadership and operational teams.
