Engineer Surveying Technician

About the role

Balfour Beatty is seeking an Engineering Surveying Technician to support the Net Zero Teesside (NZT) project at its Redcar and Cleveland site. You will work closely with the Engineering Surveying Team to deliver accurate survey data throughout the construction phase of a pioneering carbon‑capture power station.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in mentoring and training less experienced surveyors.
• Plan and install control points and produce as‑built drawings using survey‑specific software.
• Collect, process, and issue survey field data in agreed formats.
• Carry out delegated survey activities independently or as part of a team.
• Perform independent survey checks at key construction stages.
• Maintain and securely store survey equipment and consumables.
• Identify hazards, raise observation cards, and ensure safe working practices.
• Produce and maintain accurate site records and provide engineers with design‑derived information.

Required profile

• Commitment, punctuality and strong communication/teamwork skills.
• Full UK manual driving licence and valid CSCS card.
• Previous experience in surveying activities such as control, monitoring, topographical surveys, and setting out.
• Proficiency with IT applications and a strong focus on health & safety.
• Keen to learn and develop within the Survey Team.

Required skills

• Familiarity with the latest survey equipment and GNSS networks.
• Experience with survey‑specific software (e.g., 3DR, N4CE, Infinity, SiteScan).
