Expert External Examiner - Academic Quality Assurance

About the Role

Join the University of Sunderland as an External Examiner, a pivotal role dedicated to upholding the highest standards of academic excellence. You will play a crucial part in safeguarding the integrity, fairness, and quality of our educational offerings through rigorous assessment and independent moderation.

Main Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed examinations of selected student work samples twice annually to ensure academic consistency, fairness, and high-quality standards.
• Provide independent quality assurance and professional, constructive feedback to the academic program team.
• Actively participate in the annual online Examining Board meetings.
• Produce comprehensive annual External Examiner reports following a thorough review of all program-related documentation.

Candidate Profile

• Must hold at least a Master’s degree (MA/MSc) from a recognized UK university.
• Full professional proficiency in French (both written and spoken) is mandatory.
• Demonstrated understanding of assessment and moderation processes, specifically within Teacher Training (PGCE) frameworks.
• Ability to work independently and meet strict academic reporting deadlines.
