Farm Assistant – Laying Farm Operations

About the role

The Farm Assistant will support the farm management team on a laying farm, helping to ensure the smooth production of high‑quality hatching eggs with high hatchability. This role involves a variety of hands‑on tasks across egg handling, bird care, and general farm upkeep while adhering to bio‑security and health‑safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Collect and grade eggs from nests and the floor, sanitise and prepare sites for re‑assembly.
• Unload birds, take blood samples, clean drinkers and weigh birds.
• Perform general housekeeping duties such as grass cutting, weeding, cleaning and sweeping.
• Follow and enforce all bio‑security, health and safety, COSHH and risk‑assessment procedures.
• Report any stock health issues, equipment problems, or safety hazards to farm management.
• Assist with waste reduction and recycling initiatives to minimise environmental impact.

Required profile

• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Flexibility and reliability in a fast‑paced farm environment.
• Willingness to learn new skills and adhere to the company’s competency framework.
• Desirable: previous experience in the poultry industry.

• No specific technical skills required; training will be provided on farm‑specific procedures.
