General Accountant – Remote/Flexible Hours

About the role

We are seeking an experienced General Accountant to join a well‑established beauty brand based in Central London. The role is fully remote with flexible hours, allowing you to support the finance function while working 20–30 hours per week.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly and year‑end management reports, balance sheet, profit & loss, cash flow and KPI dashboards using Excel.
• Support the CEO with financial analysis and strategic reporting.
• Prepare and submit Corporation Tax and VAT returns, ensuring compliance with HMRC regulations.
• Process payroll, issue payslips and P45s, and manage statutory filings, PAYE and pension auto‑enrolment.
• Maintain day‑to‑day bookkeeping, manage accounts payable/receivable, perform bank reconciliations and keep the general ledger up to date.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of accounting experience in an SME environment.
• Experience with businesses turnover exceeding £5 million and around 50 employees.
• Relevant professional qualification preferred (ACCA, ACA, CPA or equivalent).
• Strong understanding of accounting standards, compliance and financial controls.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Retail, beauty or comparable industry experience is a plus.
• Ability to work autonomously, maintain confidentiality and handle data securely.

• Proficiency with accounting software/systems.
