General Foreman – Construction & Rail Projects

About the role

We are looking for a proactive General Foreman to lead small to medium‑sized operational projects across the Network Rail CP7 Western & Wales Framework. You will manage day‑to‑day site activities, supervise trades, and ensure projects ranging from £500k to £15m are delivered safely, on time, and to the required standards.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver assigned tasks, work packages and objectives to industry standards.
• Manage day‑to‑day activities independently, escalating only significant decisions.
• Lead a small team, ensuring performance and output meet project goals.
• Supervise larger trade teams and coordinate major site functions on larger schemes.
• Control costs and quantities on small projects and support commercial delivery on larger schemes.
• Maintain SHEQ standards, site cost control and compliance with specifications.

Required profile

• Strong team player with proven leadership and motivation skills.
• Effective planning and time‑management abilities.
• Solid understanding of construction practices, methods and industry standards.
• Experience working on or around Network Rail infrastructure, with structural experience essential.

• SMSTS certification
• CSCS Gold Card (NVQ Level 4 minimum)
• PTSIT literacy
• Temporary Works Supervisor qualification
• NRSWA certification
• 3‑Day First Aid at Work
• CPCS Lift Supervisor qualification
• RD8200 Cat & Genny certification
• CISRS Basic Scaffold Inspection
• COSS (desirable)
