About the role
BAE Systems is seeking a Graduate Mechanical Engineer to join its Submarines team in Barrow, Cumbria. You will contribute to the design, development and analysis of critical mechanical systems for the Royal Navy’s Astute and Dreadnought class submarines.
Key responsibilities
- Support mechanical design and analysis of submarine ventilation, atmosphere control, and survival systems.
- Assist with the design, development and modelling of propulsion and shock‑resistant equipment.
- Contribute to structural design and documentation of submarine components.
- Prepare calculations, technical reports and specifications.
- Apply standards and procedures under technical supervision.
Required profile
- Graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail.
- Willingness to work on‑site 3‑5 days per week in a hybrid environment.
- Eligibility for security and export control clearances.
Required skills
- Mechanical design and analysis.
