Graduate Product Safety Engineer

About the role

BAE Systems is seeking a Graduate Product Safety Engineer to join the Submarines Product Safety department in Barrow, Cumbria. You will contribute to the development of safe submarine designs and support the creation of a Platform Control and Indication safety justification.

Key responsibilities

• Produce safety documentation and assist line management with project analysis, planning, and risk identification.
• Provide safety justification advice to internal departments and external stakeholders.
• Maintain and improve the Safety & Environment Management System, including process instructions.
• Review safety case documentation and evidence according to established procedures.
• Identify and close safety issues across product lifecycle stages and manage related change activities.

Required profile

• Recent graduate with a degree relevant to engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Strong interest in product safety and submarine systems.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
• Willingness to attend the Barrow site 2‑4 days per week within a hybrid working model.
