Head of IT Infrastructure and Operations

About the role

The Head of IT Infrastructure & Operations will own the reliability, scalability and efficiency of the technology platform that supports internal teams, engineering groups and customer‑facing services for a banking client. This senior leadership position combines technical ownership with strategic planning and cultural stewardship.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a cross‑functional organisation covering IT operations, infrastructure, platform engineering, cloud and end‑user computing.
• Define and execute a long‑term infrastructure strategy, balancing cloud‑first initiatives with physical environment responsibilities.
• Improve monitoring, alerting, incident response and overall operational maturity.
• Drive buy‑vs‑build decisions, manage supplier relationships and third‑party dependencies.
• Ensure disaster recovery, business continuity and system uptime while controlling costs.
• Partner with product, engineering and security leaders to shape enterprise architecture and enforce security and regulatory standards.
• Build, mentor and lead a high‑performing leadership team, using data‑driven outcomes to guide priorities.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading senior technology leaders and people managers.
• Strong track record of delivering end‑to‑end software and infrastructure solutions in regulated environments.
• Ability to translate business outcomes into technical execution and make confident decisions in high‑impact settings.
• Experience managing strategic suppliers and influencing product, engineering and commercial stakeholders.
