IT Support Technician – Home Lab Enthusiast

About the role

We are looking for a technically‑curious IT Support Technician to join our team. The role starts at our Manchester office for induction and then moves to a permanent work‑from‑home model, with occasional client visits across Greater Manchester and beyond.

Key responsibilities

• Provide first‑line troubleshooting and support for Windows, Microsoft 365 and Linux environments.
• Visit client sites up to one day per week locally and one day per month for longer‑distance locations.
• Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts and explore AI‑based tools to automate routine tasks.
• Collaborate with the wider support team through daily messaging and regular video calls.

Required profile

• Self‑motivated individual with a passion for building and managing personal “home lab” projects.
• Proven experience in a customer‑facing role (e.g., retail, hospitality, sales) with strong communication skills.
• Valid UK driver’s licence and access to a personal vehicle for client travel.
• Willingness to use a personal mobile device for work‑related communication (costs covered).

Required skills

• Solid knowledge of Windows operating systems.
• Experience with Microsoft 365 administration.
• Familiarity with Linux distributions.
• Ability to write and maintain PowerShell scripts.

What we offer

• Salary between £24,000 and £28,000 per year, dependent on experience.
