Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

Walker Filtration is seeking a hands‑on Mechanical Design Engineer to join its engineering team at the Washington site. You will be responsible for creating innovative designs that expand the company’s industrial filtration and medical product portfolio while maintaining existing product lines.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, verify and implement new compressed‑air and gas treatment products, including pressure vessels, pneumatic control systems, compressors, vacuum pumps and desiccant dryers.
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant national and international regulatory standards.
• Compile and manage technical construction files and maintain Bills of Materials throughout the product lifecycle.
• Maintain and improve existing products to enhance quality, production efficiency and cost.
• Lead assigned projects, delivering on time, within budget and to required engineering quality.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation such as CAD drawings, cost data, design calculations and test results.
• Support prototype development, testing, troubleshooting and design refinement.
• Collaborate with suppliers to ensure manufacturability, optimal material selection and target cost achievement.

Required profile

• Proven experience in mechanical product design for industrial filtration, compressed‑air, gas or medical applications.
• Strong understanding of regulatory compliance for pressure equipment and related standards.
• Ability to manage technical documentation and BOMs across product lifecycles.
• Project‑leadership capability with a focus on cost optimisation and quality.
• Effective communication with internal teams and external suppliers.
