Mechanical Sub‑System Engineer

About the role

Alstom is looking for a Mechanical Sub‑System Engineer to define, develop and validate mechanical subsystems for rail projects. You will work closely with suppliers and internal teams to ensure the subsystems meet performance, manufacturability, serviceability and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Specify one or more mechanical subsystems according to project requirements.
• Supervise and validate supplier selection and manage subsystem development.
• Create Technical Purchase Specifications (TPS) covering weight, gauge, acoustics, eco‑design, ergonomics, aerodynamics and maintenance.
• Validate supplier technical documentation and assess change impacts.
• Support Quality teams during First Article Inspection (FAI) and First Mounting Review (FMR).
• Contribute to project planning, budgeting and progress reporting.
• Participate in cross‑functional reviews with Mechanical Integration, Procurement, Industrialisation and Manufacturing.

Required profile

• Mechanical engineering background with experience in subsystem design.
• Proven ability to work to Quality‑Cost‑Delivery (QCD) commitments.
• Experience managing supplier relationships and technical documentation.
• Capability to produce detailed specifications and assess design impacts.
• Strong project planning and reporting skills.
