Nursing Assistant – Immunisations (School Programme)

About the role

The NHS Ayrshire and Arran Immunisation team is seeking Nursing Assistants to support school‑based immunisation sessions across Ayrshire. This fixed‑term position runs from September to November 2026 and involves working directly with children, school staff, and senior immunisation nurses.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and prepare vaccination equipment before each session.
• Assist children before and after vaccination, ensuring comfort and safety.
• Monitor and restock equipment bags at the end of each day.
• Support the delivery of the Flu Immunisation Programme in primary schools across three localities.
• Work under the direct supervision of Band 5 immunisation nurses.

Required profile

• Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience working in educational or community settings.
• Valid UK driving licence.
