Plant Operative – Groundworker

About the role

Join a hands‑on team delivering high‑quality infrastructure in Falkirk. As a Plant Operative you will support groundworks, drainage and plant activities, ensuring projects stay on schedule and meet safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out groundworks including excavation, drainage installation, and reinstatement.
• Install foul and surface‑water drainage, manholes and gullies to specifications.
• Lay pipes, set levels and ensure correct falls according to drawings.
• Mix, pour and finish concrete for bases, slabs, footings and kerbs.
• Operate plant machinery and hand tools safely.
• Backfill, compact and reinstate completed works.
• Read and interpret drawings, plans and site instructions.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised work area and follow all H&S procedures.

Required profile

• Proven experience in groundworks, drainage and excavation.
• Ability to read drawings and follow site instructions.
• Practical concrete mixing and finishing skills.
• Reliable team player with attention to detail.
• Relevant site safety training (e.g., First Aid, Manual Handling) is desirable.
