Principal Software Developer – Cloud Platform (Hybrid)

About the role

We are looking for a Principal Software Developer to lead the design and delivery of core services for AVEVA’s CONNECT cloud platform. The role is based in Cambridge, United Kingdom and operates in a hybrid model, partnering with product and engineering teams to build secure, resilient and scalable solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain core features of the CONNECT platform with a focus on quality, security and reliability.
• Optimize scalability, performance and availability of services to meet industry standards.
• Diagnose and resolve complex cross‑service issues, using metrics to drive continuous improvement.
• Champion best practices in secure coding, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines and maintainable architecture.
• Participate actively in Agile ceremonies, including planning, code reviews and retrospectives.
• Promote cloud technologies and shared‑service patterns across AVEVA’s product portfolio.

Required profile

• Proven experience designing and delivering large‑scale cloud‑based platforms.
• Strong understanding of authentication, authorization and identity management.
• Ability to work collaboratively in cross‑functional Agile teams.
• Track record of driving technical excellence and operational efficiency.

Required skills

• Experience with cloud infrastructure and services.
• Knowledge of secure coding practices and CI/CD tooling.
• Familiarity with performance tuning and scalability techniques.
