Project Manager

About the role

Based at Avantis' Head Office in Cardiff, the Project Manager will lead the end‑to‑end delivery of Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) projects across European industrial sites. The role combines technical oversight, financial control and client liaison to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule and within budget.

Key responsibilities

• Lead EPC projects from contract award through to final account, developing and maintaining the Project Execution Plan.
• Define project strategy, programme milestones and resource allocation to meet objectives.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams including engineering, planning, commercial, procurement and site management.
• Prepare and manage budgets, forecasts and cost‑control processes; report financial performance.
• Oversee commercial performance, approve valuations, variations and subcontract awards.
• Provide technical leadership for piping systems, structural steelwork and mechanical installations.
• Ensure compliance with specifications, industry codes and standards; lead technical reviews and risk assessments.
• Direct site teams across Europe, monitor progress against the critical path and implement mitigation strategies.
• Act as primary client contact, lead progress meetings and executive reporting.
• Identify, assess and manage project risks and ensure governance procedures are followed.

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering EPC projects from award to completion.
• Strong leadership and team‑coordination abilities across engineering, procurement and construction functions.
• Solid financial and commercial management skills, including budgeting and cost control.
• Technical expertise in piping, structural steelwork and mechanical installation design.
• Experience managing site operations with a focus on HSE compliance.
• Excellent stakeholder communication and client‑facing capabilities.
• Ability to identify, assess and mitigate technical, commercial and programme risks.
