About the Role

Join Rethink Mental Illness at HMP Durham to deliver a vital, integrated mental health service within a prison environment. As a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner, you will play a crucial role in supporting the recovery and autonomy of incarcerated individuals through evidence-based interventions.

Main Missions

• Assess and manage referrals following established protocols, ensuring appropriate levels of care and timely escalation when necessary.
• Support service users in defining recovery goals, managing mental health risks, and fostering independence.
• Deliver low-intensity, evidence-based interventions, including Guided Self-Help and psycho-educational support based on CBT principles.
• Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team (psychologists, doctors, social workers) to ensure seamless continuity of care.
• Maintain high clinical standards through precise data entry, outcome measures, and strict adherence to confidentiality.
• Contribute to service performance by meeting activity targets and reducing waiting times.
• Develop partnerships with statutory and non-statutory agencies to facilitate successful transitions and continuity of care post-release.

Candidate Profile

• Proven experience in delivering low-intensity psychological interventions.
• Strong understanding of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) principles.
• Ability to work effectively within a high-pressure, multidisciplinary environment.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage professionally with diverse service users and stakeholders.
• Commitment to continuous professional development and maintaining professional registration.
