About the role

The University of the Arts London seeks an established academic leader to shape the future research direction of its School of Design. As a Research Professor in Design Innovation, you will drive interdisciplinary research that tackles real‑world challenges across health, engineering and industry.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and grow internationally recognised research in Design Innovation across the university.
• Strengthen the School’s research culture, profile and collaborative networks.
• Secure major research funding and build strategic partnerships with industry, healthcare, engineering and cultural organisations.
• Mentor and support PhD students and early‑career researchers.

Required profile

• Internationally recognised expertise in Design Innovation with a strong track record of impactful research.
• Experience working across disciplines and sectors, and proven ability to secure significant external funding.
• Collaborative and influential academic leader who fosters inclusive research cultures.
• Excellent communication skills and a passion for interdisciplinary innovation.
