SAFA Ramp Inspector – Aviation Safety

About the role

The UK Civil Aviation Authority is seeking a qualified SAFA Ramp Inspector to join a dedicated team responsible for ensuring aviation safety standards across the United Kingdom. This permanent, full‑time position is based at Aviation House in Gatwick and works closely with the Department for Transport, EASA and European partners.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out SAFA ramp inspections in line with annual targets set by the DfT and CAA International.
• Produce timely inspection reports and enter accurate data into the EASA SAFA database.
• Maintain personal competence as a SAFA inspector and contribute to the development of technical procedures.
• Liaise with stakeholders such as DfT, CAA (SARG) and EASA on inspection processes and outcomes.
• When qualified, mentor and train new SAFA inspectors and third‑party contractors.

Required profile

• Relevant aviation safety or regulatory experience.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Willingness to travel to inspection sites as required.

Required skills

• Knowledge of SAFA ramp inspection procedures.
• Familiarity with EASA SAFA database entry and reporting.
• Understanding of UK and European aviation safety regulations.
