Senior Accountant – London

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join a leading global trading firm’s London finance team. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will manage day‑to‑day accounting while contributing to strategic process improvements in a fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Own daily accounting activities and ensure compliance with local GAAP and IFRS.
• Drive month‑end close and build UK reconciliation procedures from the ground up.
• Prepare financial statements and workpapers for the annual audit.
• Support FP&A with forecasting and budgeting processes.
• Identify and implement automation tools to streamline workflows.
• Take ownership of corporate tax submissions and coordinate external advisors.
• Participate in quarterly and annual FCA regulatory filings.
• Oversee quarterly VAT submissions across the UK group.

Required profile

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Proficiency in Excel and ERP/accounting software.
• Strong knowledge of financial processes and multi‑entity, multi‑currency reporting.
• Genuine interest in financial products and trading (experience advantageous but not required).
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work with senior stakeholders.
• Comfortable in a high‑velocity, collaborative environment.
