Senior kdb+ Developer – Vice President

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Senior kdb+ Developer to join the BestX engineering team. In this position you will design, build and optimise high‑performance data platforms that power BestX’s multi‑asset analytics and Transaction Cost Analysis solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop core components of the multi‑asset analytics platform.
• Architect, build and maintain kdb+ tick systems, focusing on data organisation, schema design and performance trade‑offs.
• Develop and operate large‑scale, high‑frequency data pipelines ensuring low latency, high throughput and efficient memory utilisation.
• Analyse and optimise q queries, data models and ingestion pipelines for real‑time and historical workloads.
• Apply Agile practices across cloud‑based, server‑side and database‑driven systems.
• Understand Transaction Cost Analysis (TCA) and regulatory benchmarks for MiFID/MiFIR.
• Take ownership from design through production and champion clean‑code, test‑driven development and CI/CD pipelines.

Required profile

• 5+ years of hands‑on kdb+ development experience.
• Strong background in quantitative analysis, mathematical modelling and statistics.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or a related STEM field.

Required skills

• kdb+ and q programming.
• Python (including Jupyter, pandas, NumPy, scikit‑learn).
• Parallel computing frameworks such as Slurm.
• Cloud infrastructure experience, preferably AWS.
• Familiarity with modern JavaScript build toolchains (Node.js, npm, Yarn, Webpack, Babel, Cypress) – nice‑to‑have.
• Domain knowledge in FX, Fixed Income, Equities or Equity Derivatives – nice‑to‑have.
