About the role

The Senior Psychological Therapist will deliver specialised psychological assessment and treatment for adult out‑patients referred by GPs and community mental health teams across North and South Lanarkshire. The role also includes consultation, training and occasional deputising for the service coordinator.

Key responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments and deliver evidence‑based therapies to adults, families and carers.
  • Provide consultation and training to other health and mental‑health professionals as needed.
  • Deputise for the Coordinator, attending weekly referral allocation, MDT and team meetings.
  • Represent the North Psychological Therapies Team at internal and external meetings.
  • Manage service delivery during the Coordinator’s absence (sickness, leave, etc.).
  • Participate in wider Psychological Therapies Team activities, including staff training.
  • Deliver clinical placements and supervision to trainee practitioners.

Required profile

  • HCPC‑registered psychologist (doctorate) or equivalent qualification (NMC, AHP, accredited BABCP/BACP/UKCP membership, or Graduate Basis for Chartership with BPS).
  • Post‑qualification training in at least one therapeutic modality such as BFT, CBT for Psychosis, CFT, DBT, CAT or Schema Therapy.
  • Demonstrated senior clinical experience and ability to lead a multidisciplinary team.
