Staff Nurse – Day Surgery Centre

About the role

The Staff Nurse will join Welbeck Surgery Centre’s Day Surgery Unit, delivering high‑quality, patient‑centred care for a wide range of day‑case procedures. You will support patients from admission through recovery to discharge, working alongside consultants and a multidisciplinary team in a fast‑paced, modern environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide safe, evidence‑based nursing care throughout the surgical pathway.
• Assist with patient admission, pre‑operative preparation, intra‑operative support and post‑operative recovery.
• Monitor vital signs, manage pain relief and respond to clinical changes promptly.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anaesthetists and allied health professionals to ensure seamless patient flow.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and adhere to infection‑control standards.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (NMC‑registered) with a current licence to practise in the UK.
• Experience in a surgical or day‑case setting is desirable.
• Ability to work independently, make sound clinical decisions and prioritise workload.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative attitude.

Required skills

• Clinical assessment and monitoring.
• Administration of IV therapy and medication.
• Knowledge of aseptic techniques and laminar‑flow theatre protocols.
• Proficiency in patient documentation systems.
