Systems Engineer – Surveillance, Radar, WAM & ADS‑B Specialist

About the role

We are seeking a Systems Engineer with specialist knowledge in surveillance, radar, Wide Area Multilateration (WAM) and ADS‑B technologies. This 6‑month contract (inside IR35) offers a daily rate of £500‑600 and a hybrid working model based in Aberdeen, supporting critical national security and airspace management projects.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and validate surveillance, radar, WAM and ADS‑B systems.
• Collaborate with multi‑disciplinary teams to integrate complex systems and ensure seamless operation.
• Perform systems analysis, troubleshooting and testing to guarantee reliability and performance.
• Produce technical documentation, specifications and ensure compliance with relevant standards.
• Provide technical expertise to support project delivery and mentor junior team members.
• Stay informed of industry standards and emerging technologies to drive continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Proven experience with surveillance, radar, WAM and ADS‑B systems.
• Strong background in communications technologies for aerospace or defence projects.
• Demonstrated expertise in systems engineering principles and lifecycle management.
• Familiarity with relevant standards and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Based in Scotland or willing to relocate and eligible for security clearance.
