Trust Doctor – Surgical Services (Full‑time, Fixed‑term)

About the role

The Trust Doctor will manage day‑to‑day care of elective and emergency surgical patients, including those on paediatric wards, working under the supervision of registrars and consultants. The role involves attending surgical outpatient and specialist clinics, theatre sessions and ward rounds across North Tees and Hartlepool sites.

Key responsibilities

• Provide emergency on‑call cover for the Surgical Decisions Unit at North Tees, covering both emergency admissions and emergency theatre.
• Deliver elective surgical work on both North Tees and Hartlepool sites, including urgent and cancer lists.
• Work with consultants and registrars in breast, colorectal and upper gastrointestinal (UGI) surgery.
• Participate in surgical outpatient clinics, specialist clinics, theatre sessions and ward rounds.
• Collaborate with core trainees and FY2 doctors, offering teaching and mentorship.

Required profile

• Qualified medical doctor with UK clinical experience.
• Ability to work full‑time on a fixed‑term (12‑month) contract.
• Willingness to provide on‑call emergency cover.
• Commitment to delivering high‑quality patient care in a multidisciplinary team.
