1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant – Secondary Schools

About the role

We are seeking compassionate 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistants to support secondary‑school pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in Manchester starting September 2026. The role involves working closely with individual students to help them access the curriculum, manage behaviour and develop academically and emotionally.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one support for SEND pupils throughout the school day.
• Assist students with academic tasks and emotional wellbeing.
• Implement positive behaviour management strategies.
• Adapt support to each child’s unique needs.
• Collaborate with teachers and the school’s SEND team.
• Promote an inclusive, safe learning environment.

Required profile

• UK bachelor’s degree (Psychology, Educational Psychology or related field preferred).
• Previous experience supporting children with SEND (paid, placement or voluntary).
• Genuine passion for working with young people with additional needs.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Reliability, resilience, patience and adaptability.
• Enhanced DBS registration on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
• References covering the last two years.
