Accounts Manager

About the role

Menzies is seeking an experienced Accounts Manager to lead a portfolio of clients in its Outsourced Business Services division based in Cardiff. You will oversee the delivery of both management accounts and statutory financial statements while ensuring accuracy, timeliness and profitability.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee a diverse, moderately complex client portfolio with minimal supervision.
• Lead a small team delivering finance functions to 30‑40 clients, including management accounts and year‑end statutory statements.
• Accountable for financial performance – managing WIP, debt, billing and budgets.
• Act as primary client contact, leading meetings and building trusted relationships.
• Mentor junior staff, foster collaboration and drive team development initiatives.
• Identify business growth opportunities through lead generation, cross‑selling and proposals.
• People/Training Manager responsibilities for trainees or team members.
• Coordinate with audit and corporate tax teams to provide efficient client support.

Required profile

• AAT, ACA or ACCA qualified (or AAT qualified by experience).
• Strong technical accounting knowledge, including preparation of statutory statements under FRS 102‑1A.
• Hands‑on experience with Xero and Dext, and familiarity with Caseware (training provided if needed).
• Excellent organisational skills and proven ability to manage and support a team.
• Experience leading small teams and coaching junior staff.
