Accounts Senior

About the role

This client‑facing position is ideal for a qualified accountant who enjoys managing a portfolio of mid‑market businesses and mentoring junior staff. You will be responsible for delivering high‑quality accounts and tax services while collaborating closely with senior stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare statutory accounts, corporation tax returns and directors’ personal tax returns ready for senior review.
• Meet regularly with key clients to review records, discuss performance and identify service improvements.
• Review and provide feedback on work completed by junior team members.
• Finalise files and reports after senior review and present them to clients.
• Ensure compliance with internal procedures and timely submission of all returns.
• Mentor colleagues from apprentice to senior level and support day‑to‑day team management.
• Manage client workflows, diaries and budgets to meet deadlines.
• Monitor client fees, highlight recovery issues and act as the main point of contact for accounts clients.
• Identify opportunities to cross‑sell additional services.

Required profile

• ACA or ACCA qualified (or equivalent) with at least 3 years post‑qualification experience.
• Proven experience in an accountancy practice environment.
• Strong technical knowledge of FRS102, FRS102 Section 1A and FRS105.
• Experience preparing consolidated accounts.
• Confident client relationship management and ability to mentor junior staff.
• Proactive, organised and able to work independently.
