Adults Social Worker – Communities Future Options

About the role

Our client Sheffield City Council is seeking an Adults Social Worker to join the Communities Future Options service. You will deliver social work, prevention, assessment and case management for adults under the Care Act 2014, supporting people to live fulfilling lives at home and within their community.

Key responsibilities

• Provide assessments, eligibility determinations and written reports in line with the Care Act 2014 and statutory requirements.
• Co‑produce support plans, conduct risk assessments and apply problem‑solving skills that prioritise independence, choice and recovery.
• Lead complex safeguarding, VARMM and abuse prevention activities following South Yorkshire protocols.
• Mentor and supervise ASYE social workers, student social workers and vocationally qualified staff.
• Collaborate with professionals, voluntary organisations and carers to deliver coordinated support.

Required profile

• Maintain Social Work Registration and professional competency.
• Adopt a strengths‑based approach to promote wellbeing and community connection.
• Work within the Mental Capacity Act 2005, assessing capacity and acting in a person’s best interest.
• Attend legal forums and produce complex reports for legal proceedings.

Required skills

• Proficiency with a range of IT software systems for case recording and GDPR compliance.
• Advanced report‑writing ability for legal and safeguarding contexts.
