AI Service Designer – Contract (Security Cleared)

About the role

We are seeking an AI Service Designer on an urgent contract basis to shape end‑to‑end services that harness data, artificial intelligence and automation. Working within a security‑cleared environment, you will translate user and organisational needs into ethical, responsible AI‑enabled solutions that align with Ofgem’s digital strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design of AI‑enabled services from discovery through live operation, ensuring alignment with user needs and business outcomes.
• Map current and future service journeys, pinpointing opportunities to embed AI, automation and data‑driven decision‑making.
• Conduct user research, synthesize insights and produce service designs, prototypes and artefacts such as journey maps and service blueprints.
• Identify where AI can improve efficiency, quality or customer experience and work closely with data scientists, engineers and product teams to integrate solutions.
• Embed Responsible AI principles—fairness, transparency and accountability—into all service designs.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary, agile teams and define performance metrics to continuously improve services.

Required profile

• Proven experience designing end‑to‑end services in complex organisations.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Experience working in agile, multidisciplinary environments.
• Understanding of Responsible AI and ethical considerations.

Required skills

• Service design methods such as journey mapping and service blueprints.
• Knowledge of AI, data and automation capabilities and limitations.
• Familiarity with generative AI or Copilot‑style tools (desirable).
