Alcohol Specialist Nurse

About the role
The Alcohol Specialist Nurse will join the Alcohol Care Team (ACT) delivering specialist nursing care to patients with alcohol‑use disorders across Wythenshawe Hospital, Manchester Royal Infirmary and North Manchester General Hospital. Working Monday‑Friday (with possible Saturday shifts) you will operate autonomously within a small, multidisciplinary team.
Key responsibilities
- Assess, treat and manage patients presenting with alcohol‑related harm.
- Collaborate with MFT Alcohol Care Teams, multidisciplinary teams and community substance‑misuse services.
- Provide clinical expertise and advice on alcohol‑use disorders to ward staff.
- Deliver teaching and training sessions to colleagues.
- Support service development and quality‑improvement initiatives.
- Flexibly work across Wythenshawe and Manchester Royal Infirmary sites.
Required profile
- Motivated to work with patients affected by alcohol‑use disorders.
- Ability to practice independently with strong communication and time‑management skills.
- Willingness to contribute to teaching, training and service development.
Required skills
- Proficiency with the Hive Electronic Patient Record system.
