About the role
An ASD Teaching Assistant is needed at a small secondary school in South East London to support students on the autism spectrum in Years 7 and 8. The role involves 1:1 and small‑group work across a range of subjects, helping pupils develop both academic and social skills.
Key responsibilities
- Provide targeted support to ASD pupils in Years 7‑8 on a 1:1 and small‑group basis.
- Assist with lesson delivery across multiple subjects, adapting activities to meet individual needs.
- Collaborate with the SENDCO and a multi‑skilled team to implement personalised strategies.
- Monitor progress and contribute to individual education plans.
Required profile
- Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant in a primary or secondary setting.
- Specific experience working with students on the autism spectrum.
- Knowledge of PECS and Makaton communication systems.
- Ability to work flexibly within a large, multi‑skill team.
- Positive, proactive and outgoing personality.
