Assistant Accountant / Accounts Manager – Advanced Excel Skills

About the role

We are seeking an Assistant Accountant/Accounts Manager to lead a small finance team on a part‑time basis. Working closely with the Director, you will own the full financial function, from management accounts to payroll, ensuring accuracy and strategic insight for the business.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day operations of the Finance Department, including cash flow, banking and risk management.
• Prepare and analyse monthly management accounts, supporting month‑end and year‑end processes.
• Manage payroll processing and ensure statutory compliance.
• Maintain general ledger integrity, invoicing and reconciliations.
• Lead financial planning, forecasting and budget control.
• Review and improve financial processes and internal controls.

Required profile

• Strong proficiency with Sage or a comparable accounting system.
• Advanced Excel skills with a high level of attention to detail.
• AAT, ACCA, CIMA qualification (or part‑qualified/qualified by experience).
• Ability to work autonomously, prioritize tasks and maintain high accuracy.
