Assistant Catering Manager

About the role

Midlands Arts Centre (MAC) in Birmingham is seeking a hardworking and confident Assistant Catering Manager to support its diverse hospitality offering, which includes the KILN restaurant, bar, and event catering. You will help shape a memorable customer experience while working closely with Shift Leaders and Customer Service Assistants.

Key responsibilities

• Lead day‑to‑day planning and delivery of catering services across all MAC venues, staying within budget.
• Coach and train staff to maintain high service standards and legal compliance.
• Manage stock ordering, control, and security, ensuring value for money and availability for busy periods.
• Oversee rota creation, workload distribution, and payroll adjustments via Rotacloud.
• Handle customer complaints promptly and professionally.
• Collaborate with the Kitchen Team to monitor food quality and address issues.
• Maintain accurate HACCP, COSHH, and fire safety documentation, acting as Fire Marshal when required.
• Support the Head of Catering Operations and deputise when needed.

• Ability to work flexibly in a fast‑paced hospitality environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with EPOS systems for accurate sales recording.
• Experience using Rotacloud for rota and payroll management.
• Knowledge of HACCP and COSHH compliance standards.
• Understanding of stock control and fire safety procedures.
