Associate Mechanical Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an Associate Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Birmingham office. The role sits within a multidisciplinary consultancy delivering integrated engineering services across the UK, with a focus on building services design for residential, commercial, education, cultural, industrial and regeneration projects.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage mechanical building services design across a variety of sectors and project types.
• Produce and review mechanical calculations, drawings, specifications and technical reports.
• Develop HVAC, heating, cooling and ventilation solutions and ensure they meet project requirements.
• Provide technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle, from concept through detailed design to construction and handover.
• Maintain client relationships, offer technical guidance and support the development of junior engineers.

Required profile

• Qualified Mechanical Engineer with experience in building services design.
• Proven ability to lead design projects and manage client expectations.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach.
• Motivation to progress to an associate‑level position and mentor junior staff.
