Associate - Public Law & Regulation

About the role

We are seeking a qualified solicitor to join our specialist Public Law & Regulation team in Birmingham. The role offers exposure to a wide range of public administrative and regulatory matters across sectors such as energy, health, education and life sciences.

Key responsibilities

• Provide public law and regulatory advice to central government departments, regulators and regulated companies.
• Handle both contentious (judicial review, appeals) and non‑contentious matters (legislative drafting, compliance).
• Interpret statutes, develop regulatory frameworks and support enforcement actions.
• Collaborate closely with in‑house legal, commercial and policy teams, as well as external advisers.
• Participate in cross‑firm sector teams and contribute to pro‑bono projects.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor with NQ‑2PQE.
• Strong academic record and genuine interest in public law and regulation.
• Ability to work on complex, multi‑disciplinary legal issues.
• Willingness to travel occasionally to London and client offices.
