Audit & Compliance Manager – Construction Industry

About the role

The Audit & Compliance Manager will lead a newly created internal audit function for a leading UK infrastructure and construction business. Reporting to the Director of Audit and Compliance, the role combines strategic oversight with hands‑on audit delivery across central functions and project sites.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Head of Audit, Risk and Compliance in delivering the internal audit strategy.
• Provide visible leadership to a team of three Regional Auditors and an Internal Audit & Compliance Lead.
• Develop and execute a risk‑based internal audit plan covering Finance, HR, Procurement, IT, Commercial and project fields.
• Integrate insights from BSI audits, Quality Consultant reviews and Quantity Surveyor peer reviews to create a cohesive assurance view.
• Ensure compliance with ISO standards and embed a standardised audit methodology.
• Track audit outcomes, report findings to senior leadership and follow up on corrective actions.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading internal audit teams, preferably within the construction or infrastructure sector.
• Strong knowledge of ISO standards and risk‑based audit methodologies.
• Ability to work collaboratively with central functions, business units and project teams.
• Demonstrated capability to drive continuous improvement and foster a culture of risk awareness.
