Audit Manager – Lead Audit Plans & Team

About the role

We are seeking an Audit Manager to lead audit planning and delivery for a top‑40 UK accountancy practice based in Reading. The role will oversee a portfolio of clients across the South East, Thames Valley and London, ensuring high‑quality audit engagements and financial reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Control and deliver all audit assignments, coordinating with Client Account Managers.
• Supervise Audit Seniors, provide on‑the‑job training and perform spot checks before partner review.
• Assist partners with client portfolio management and ensure compliance with audit standards.
• Prepare and review work papers and draft financial statements.
• Identify improvement areas in client financial processes and deliver recommendations.
• Plan and manage larger, complex or high‑profile audits, monitoring budgets and targets.

Required profile

• ACA or ACCA qualified accountant.
• Strong staff management experience within a top‑100 or reputable regional accountancy firm.
• Up‑to‑date knowledge of current auditing techniques and UK GAAP.
• Self‑motivated, energetic with excellent planning and organisational skills.
