Behaviour Mentor – PRU (Birmingham)

About the role

The Education Network Birmingham is seeking an experienced Behaviour Mentor to work within a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU). You will support children who have been excluded from mainstream education, helping them regulate their behaviour and access high‑quality learning.

Key responsibilities

• Manage classroom behaviours and assist young people in self‑regulation.
• Act as a positive role model, demonstrating the impact of actions on peers and staff.
• Communicate with students, staff and parents to uncover causes of challenging behaviour.
• Participate in whole‑school activities, trips and reward days.
• Apply de‑escalation techniques and identify triggers before crises develop.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a behaviour mentor, youth worker, residential support worker or teaching assistant.
• Strong communication and behaviour‑management abilities.
• Ability to work one‑to‑one with pupils and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
