Behaviour Support Assistant (SEN Teaching Assistant)

About the role

We are seeking a dependable, proactive and resilient Behaviour Support Assistant to join our team in a Special Educational Needs (SEN) school. You will work closely with students who have a range of additional needs, providing practical support throughout the school day both inside and outside the classroom.

Key responsibilities

• Support students with learning, behaviour and daily routines.
• Assist the class teacher with lessons and structured activities.
• Work one‑to‑one or with small groups to reinforce learning.
• Manage challenging behaviour with confidence and consistency.
• Support students during break times, transitions and off‑site activities.
• Provide personal care assistance, including toileting and hygiene needs.

Required profile

• Reliable, punctual and able to work as part of a team.
• Calm, confident and approachable manner.
• Physically active and comfortable in a hands‑on role.
• Willing to support personal care needs of students.
• Clear communicator who builds respectful relationships.
• Adaptable, practical and ready to take initiative.
