Branch Manager – Freight Forwarding (Birmingham)

About the role

The Branch Manager will head the Birmingham operation of a leading freight forwarding and logistics company. Reporting directly to senior leadership, you will be responsible for the full P&L, commercial growth and operational excellence across air, sea, road and rail services.

Key responsibilities

• Drive revenue, profitability and market share for the Birmingham branch.
• Develop and execute commercial strategies to win new business and expand existing client relationships.
• Oversee all freight operations including imports, exports, customs clearance and domestic transport.
• Manage the branch’s budget, forecasting, and financial targets.
• Lead, coach and develop a high‑performing team, handling recruitment and succession planning.
• Maintain compliance with customs regulations, health & safety and company policies.
• Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to boost productivity and service quality.

Required profile

• Significant leadership experience within freight forwarding or logistics.
• Proven track record of revenue growth and business development.
• Experience managing multi‑modal freight operations (air, sea, road, rail).
• Strong commercial acumen with full P&L responsibility.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
• Knowledge of international freight forwarding, customs procedures and supply‑chain operations.
