Buyer – Procurement for Engineering Service Centre

About the role

Sulzer is seeking an experienced Buyer to strengthen procurement for its Birmingham Service Centre. You will ensure timely, cost‑effective supply of materials and services that keep repair operations running smoothly in a fast‑paced, engineering‑driven environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage procurement of MRO materials, spares and services for repair jobs.
• Source and negotiate with international suppliers to secure best value and delivery performance.
• Support expedited purchasing for urgent turnaround projects.
• Build and maintain strong global supplier relationships.
• Monitor supplier performance on cost, quality and delivery.
• Collaborate with engineering, operations and planning teams.
• Identify cost‑saving opportunities and drive process improvements.
• Ensure compliance with procurement policies and procedures.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Buyer or in procurement, preferably within engineering or industrial settings.
• Strong knowledge of MRO categories such as mechanical components, machining services and repair parts.
• Experience managing international supply chains and suppliers.
• Ability to work in a reactive environment with tight turnaround times.
• Excellent negotiation, commercial and stakeholder management skills.

Required skills

• Familiarity with ERP systems
