Casualty NDA File Handler

About the role

The File Handler will manage a caseload of employer liability (EL) and public liability (PL) claims for a range of insurance clients. You will take a forensic, analytical approach to each case, handling fast‑track matters and, when required, multi‑track claims up to £100K.

Key responsibilities

• Assess primary and secondary liability concepts in EL/PL claims and act in line with client SLAs.
• Prepare initial reports, set claim strategies and review evidence such as witness statements, GP records and property inspection reports.
• Conduct investigations, manage disclosure, and lead case management conferences (CMCs) and applications.
• Instruct counsel, investigators and medical experts; draft questions for experts and prepare cost schedules.
• Draft correspondence, pre‑trial reports, counter‑schedules and manage routine case updates.
• Attend conferences, trials and CRU appeals, ensuring compliance with SRA standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience handling EL/PL caseloads and litigation.
• Strong analytical, decision‑making and prioritisation abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, with good advocacy skills.
• Ability to work under pressure, meet targets and maintain attention to detail.
• Resilience, self‑control and a proactive problem‑solving mindset.
