Chef & Hospitality Assessor (Trainee or Qualified)

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Chef & Hospitality Assessor to deliver Level 3 Award in Education and Training and related apprenticeship standards across Birmingham and surrounding areas. The role combines practical kitchen expertise with the ability to teach and support learners in both back‑of‑house and front‑of‑house specialisms.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver the full Hospitality Apprenticeship Standards (front‑ and back‑of‑house) using a blended learning approach (remote and face‑to‑face).
• Teach Maths and English Functional Skills Level 2 to apprentices.
• Plan and manage a diary of learner visits, reviews and assessments.
• Maintain accurate documentation of learner progress and outcomes.
• Provide support, advice and motivation to learners, overcoming barriers to learning.
• Meet assessor KPIs for timely visits, quality paperwork and overall administration.

Required profile

• Level 2 Hospitality or Professional Cookery qualification (or higher).
• Experience working at Commis Chef level with fresh food preparation.
• Background in managing back‑of‑house staff, ideally up to Head Chef/Kitchen Manager.
• Front‑of‑house experience with progression to supervisory or managerial roles.
• IT literate and confident delivering functional‑skills teaching.
• Full driving licence, own vehicle and willingness to travel.

• Salary £31,600 – £34,300 per year, dependent on qualifications.
